After developers opened up the first Shake Shack to rave reviews at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers, they quickly went to work to identify the ideal location for a second location. That search led them to the Dalewood Shopping Center on North Central Avenue.
Late last year, the Greenburgh Town Board and Planning Board approved plans for a new restaurant and commercial building at the shopping center, which includes plans for a sidewalk connecting Central Park Avenue to the main driveway of the shopping center.
Earlier this year, Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said that Shake Shack “will add to the excellent restaurants - and particularly burger restaurants - that exist on Central Park Avenue."
Months later, the location is scheduled for a grand opening at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct.14. The Hartsdale location will feature local beers from Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Bronx Brewery and Blue Point Brewing Company. The 3.060-square-foot restaurant will “feature plenty of seating for guests.
To celebrate its opening day, the first 100 people in the restaurant when their doors open will receive an order of their “Pie Oh My” frozen custard concretes. All of the proceeds from the soft opening and 5 percent of “Pie Oh My” lifetime sales will be donated to the Child Care of Westchester.
The company is set to hire approximately 60 workers. They are now hiring full-time and part-time employees here.
The Hartsdale tabletops will be made using reclaimed bowling alley lanes; chairs will be designed by Uhuru using sustainable materials and booths will be crafted by Staach using lumber certified by the Forest Stewardships Council.
According to Shake Shack, their chain is “a critically acclaimed, modern day ‘roadside’ burger stand known for its 100 percent all-natural Angus beef burgers, chicken sandwiches and griddled flat-top dogs, fresh-made frozen custard, crispy crinkle cut fries and more. A fun and lively community gathering place with widespread appeal, Shake Shack has earned a cult-like following around the world.”
